Living, loving, laughing, learning
“People like you and I, though mortal of course like everyone else, do not grow old no matter how long we live… [We] never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.”
Professional Standards Director
A nurse for 34 years working in all areas of nursing, including ITU, Theatre, hospice and for the past 10 years has been working in elderly care as deputy and manager in nursing homes.
Experienced manager of a specialist dementia care home where the ethos was love and happiness. Care work includes long hours and is not easy, but with the right attitude and staff appreciation this home exemplified what care is all about – to make the twilight years of residents joyful and a living experience.
I joined Caring for Care Homes, as I have a passion to bring change to all care homes, to make them “living places” so the elderly continue to live and learn and also impart their knowledge to others.
“Living places” rather than just “homes” keep people occupied and engaged. There is laughter and happiness for staff and residents alike – part of Caring for Care Homes’ vision.
Together creating truly great care for older people
